Gender Equity Advisor
A.J. Lowik (they/them/theirs) is the Gender Equity Advisor with the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity. They are a PhD Candidate with the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia, having completed their Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and their Masters’ of Arts from York University. Their PhD research is focused on trans and non-binary peoples’ reproductive lives, health and decision-making processes, which builds on their Masters’ research on trans people’s access to abortion care. In addition to trans-inclusive reproductive justice, A.J. is also interested in trans-inclusion within other health sectors. They work as a Graduate Academic Assistant at the BC Centre on Substance Use and are on the Community and Academic Advisory Committees for the CGSHE Provincial Trans Health Project.
