Dr. Kate Milberry (she/her)
Kate Milberry (she/her/hers) is the CGSHE Communications Lead. She is a feminist, social justice advocate and communicator with two decades of experience working in the non-profit, labour and university sectors. She is passionate about making a difference and telling stories that matter, always seeking to amplify unheard voices. A mix of activist and academic, Kate is the founder of ROOM Magazine, Windsor Ontario’s first alternative newsweekly and co-founder of the open access, peer-reviewed journal Stream: Culture/Politics/Technology. She has collaborated on a range of projects, including helping launch theAlternative Media Centre during the Toronto G20 and serving as guest editor for DPI: Feminist journal of Art & Digital Culture and Surveillance & Society. Kate understands the critical importance of health equity for a socially just society, joining CGSHE after working with UBC Health and UBC’s School of Population & Public Health. A former technology commentator for CBC, Kate has an MA in Communication & Social Justice from the University of Windsor and a PhD in Communication from Simon Fraser University.
