Margaret Erickson (she/her)
PhD Student/Research Associate
Margaret (she/her) is a doctoral student within the Interdisciplinary Studies Graduate Program at UBC. Her research is nested in CGSHE’s SHAWNA project and explores how incarceration shapes experiences and health outcomes for cis and trans women living with HIV in Metro Vancouver. She is supervised by Dr. Andrea Krüsi (CGSHE) and Dr. Ruth Elwood Martin (Collaborating Centre for Prison Health and Education, UBC). Margaret is informed by years of experience working in community-based and public health research, mostly centred within the Downtown Eastside community. She is a former youth worker and trained sexual health educator. She holds a Masters in Public Health and is a member of the Transformative Health & Justice Research Cluster (UBC).
Margaret values collaborative, applied, and policy relevant research that centres the voices and expertise of people with lived experience. She is privileged to work alongside and learn from the amazing staff and fellow trainees at CGSHE.
