MSc Student/Graduate Research Assistant
Yinong (pronounced “ee-known”) is a Graduate Research Assistant at the Centre for Gender and Sexual Health Equity and a MSc student at UBC’s School of Population and Public Health under the supervision of Dr. Kathleen Deering. Her current research at CGSHE focuses on women living with HIV with the SHAWNA cohort. Yinong grew up in Beijing, China in a loving family. She earned a BA in Biochemistry at Lawrence University and subsequently a PharmD at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. As a pharmacist, she decided to further her education in public health to make a greater impact through research. Outside of academics and research, Yinong volunteers with the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association and serves as a mentor to local middle school students.
