For International Women’s Day 2021, the Centre for Gender & Sexual Health Equity hosted Indigenous Women’s Experiences of Racism in BC Health Systems: Findings from In Plain Sight, a webinar featuring Elder Te’ta’in Shane Pointe and host speakers Dr. Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond (Aki-kwe), JD, LLM, SJD and Harmony Johnson (sɛƛakəs), MHA with presenter Dr. Brittany Bingham. This talk was co-hosted with VCH Aboriginal Health and part of the new CGSHE Spotlight Series – Decolonizing Research and Practice. The speakers share findings among Indigenous women from the report they co-authored: In Plain Sight: Addressing Indigenous-specific Racism and Discrimination in BC Health Care.
