Esteban Valencia (they/them) is a CGSHE Trainee and a geospatial research assistant for the Dr. Kathleen Deering and Dr. Shira Goldenberg in the UBC Department of Medicine working on the AESHA and SHAWNA projects. Esteban is a PhD student in Population and Public Health at UBC. Their research examines how criminal-legal processes (e.g., policing, incarceration, etc.) affect population health and health disparities. Esteban earned their MPH in epidemiology, with a focus on maternal/child health and demography, from the University of Washington.
